The challenge

Newark Showground is a venue with a variety of indoor & outdoor event spaces set across 84 acres.

As a showground, their new brand needed to communicate the huge variety of events they could host. The brand also needed to display a strong corporate offering, but also one that is approachable and creative.

The insights

Vital discovery workshops were undertaken with the client to take a deep dive into their target market and establish brand values and purpose.

Customers value the hand-holding approach the showground can take | Event agents and organisers are often tasked with simple information gathering as the first port of call | Their spaces are large, versatile and well located off the A1 | Showgrounds are sometimes unhelpfully seen as traditional places | They have modern spaces kitted out with modern technology which is of value to customers

A user experience-driven website

The website inevitably needed to cater for the showground’s clients’ customers. This can mean a lot of traffic is directed to their website that is simply looking for information on scheduled events. We cater for this audience first and foremost, funnelling them into a section of the website just for them – this leaves the rest of the experience to focus on their primary audience, Event Organisers.

We offer Event Organisers two ways to explore – by venue (if they know the showground well) or by event type (if they don’t). These pages were then strategically formed to offer the details an event organiser would need in order to prompt an enquiry. At this stage we also added a “hot pink” to the brand pallet to allow us to create buttons that really stood out against the rest of the design.
