The Lincolnshire Sports Awards 2014

Lincolnshire sports awards 2014

This month, we had the pleasure of being part of the annual Lincolnshire Sports Awards. The event is held to honour over 50 individuals, teams and organisations who have experienced fantastic success throughout the past year.

Our task was to create a series of videos across each of the 17 categories showcasing the incredible achievements of each nominee. Our first job was to personally get in touch with each of the candidates in order to collate information as a basis for our planning process. We then continued onwards to what would be our biggest challenge – the scheduling of every nominee’s film shoot. This inevitably took us across the county, filming our subjects in all manners of locations, including, schools, leisure centres and even the iconic Brayford Pool. From Spalding in the very South of the county to Grimsby in the very North – you name it, we filmed there! As the filming was taking place we were also busy in the edit suite generating a slick and glamorous style for the videos that reflected the branding of the upcoming ceremony. We hope that the finished products made everyone who took part feel like winners.

We were privileged to meet the nominated sportsmen and women during our filming of the category videos, which ranged from the Active Workplace Award (celebrating the commitment to health and fitness by various businesses in Lincolnshire), the Sports Club of the Year Award, and the Disabled Sportsperson of the Year Award to name a few. We met a number of exemplary swimmers, fearless rugby players and some rising athletics stars. We also had our very first shoot with a horse! We had a lot of fun meeting and working with them all, and we enjoyed capturing the determination and drive of each worthy nominee.

The awards ceremony itself was a brilliant evening, complete with fine food and super speeches. There was a total of 17 winners on the night, including Sports Woman of the Year Jade Etherington, who walked away with two lovely awards, including the coveted Sports Personality of the Year Award. The night was a blast for all attendees, who even took part in a raffle and auction raising money for the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme.

But don’t worry about having missed all the fun – you can relive the highlights of the evening either online, or with this week’s Lincolnshire Echo. You might be asking “How?!”. Well, it’s simple really. Just download the free Lincs AR app on your phone or tablet, and hold it up to the front page. Before you know it, an augmented reality video will come to life in front of your very eyes!

Congratulations to all the incredible nominees – we can’t wait to see who’s nominated next year!
